hey people,

it’s been a while since we’ve put anything on this tumblr, so thought i might start to use it again. in truth, there isn’t actually a whole lot to really update you on. we’re still working on our EP, and we’re still playing random shows now and again. in terms of where we’re at with the EP, it’s still quite a while away. unfortunately, we’ve had to sort out a number of issues that have effected our time to record the thing. all the tracks are there, we just need to find some time to record it. i mean, last month, the caravan almost died due to a massive leak, and soundcards have been broken. also, rich has just got a fucking house, and has started full-time work, which is a pretty time consuming exercise.

also, if i’m to be completely honest with myself, we’re just not really motivated that much at the moment. we’re all happy with these new tracks that we’ve written, and we really hope that any of you guys that will hear them will share our enthusiasm, but for me, there’s a lot of bullshit floating around at the moment and it really sucks. the general music scene at the moment is pretty boring to tell you the truth, and whilst probably a lot of people will completely disagree, it does leave a bitter taste in my mouth. this isn’t anything to do with our band, although we have played some pretty demoralising shows over the past couple of months, it just seems that genuinly exciting new bands are being pushed aside for so-called “independent” acts who are a by-product of an outsiders vision. hell, even the bands that i do find and think are pretty cool get ruined by some wanker hipster-guy. we’re living in a time where bands can become really hyped-up and not even have a single track out, or have even played a show. how does that work, you might wonder. well, it’s basically just someone telling you what’s good, and people being smokescreened. it’s not even like these bands are great either. their music is incredibly boring, and the people in these bands are equally as boring (which makes a lot of sense). i’m not gonna name names, as my opinion is pretty irrelevant anyway, but to sum it up, it just feels like people aren’t excited by tunes and only really care about what “cool” people think of the band in general. anyway, i digress…

we’ve got a couple of shows this summer, which should be fun. we’re doing tramlines in sheffield, and will hopefully be doing a number of shows over that weekend. the official yoofs show at tramlines, though, is at the bungalows and bears bar with joanna gruesome and crushed beaks on the 22nd july. lovely guys, so should be a lot of fun. we’re hopefully gonna be doing some stuff with best friends, blood sport and tye die tapes, which is what i’m really looking forward to. tramlines is on the 20th to the 22nd of july, and you can see who’s playing here: http://www.tramlines.org.uk/lineup/. we’re also playing southsea festival in portsmouth in september, but i’m not sure on the exact details of that. they’ll be on the twitter/facebook when we know the score. we’re also bringing bands to bournemouth over the summer, which is pretty nice. we’ve got bos angeles, best friends and slowcoaches coming down on june 30th at 60 million postcards (if you’re a bournemouth dude, you’ll know what that is), and then we’ve got brown brogues and slaves coming down on july 28th at the same venue. they’re both free entry, and we’ll be giving away some mixtapes with good tunes on.

ummm, other stuff i should probably mention… we’ve still got a few DIY cds/tapes that you can “buy”. these things are pretty naff, so i’m not expecting these to sell-out, but if you would like to own a physical copy of ‘we used 2 be fun’, which was lovingly made by us, then you can do so on our bandcamp here: http://yoofs.bandcamp.com/album/we-used-2-be-fun. they cost like £2, which includes the postage, but you can get hold of them for free if you come down to a show. if you’re planning on coming to a show, and would like a free cd/tape, then email us on yoofsuk@gmail.com and we’ll happily keep one aside for you.
